Hi, I'm Susannah Mason (aka SOOS) and I first became fascinated with explorative problem solving when I was in middle school through a national science competition. That audacity to take on what I would now understand as a "wicked problem" of waste led to us winning first place! I keep the plaque nearby as a reminder of that audacity, and to challenge my own complacency against the biggest issues we all face.
I learned about Industrial Design at a summer camp right after my freshman year of high school. It was a huge lightbulb moment for me when I discovered there was a career that combined my passions for problem solving and visual communication.
Design will never "fix" the problems in the world, but it can certainly help to make the efforts more beautiful + intentional.
We must do all we can with the skills we have.

Since graduation in 2022, I have assembled and upgraded my own 3D printer, built my own computer, and have repaired and maintained a high volume label printer while I worked at a local roastery. I know how to troubleshoot and am excited to tackle complex issues. I am a competent 3D modeler with years of professional experience, and I know how to design for 3D printing. I’m very comfortable with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. I have experience with rapid prototypes, basic electrical wiring, soldering, woodworking, ceramics, sculpture, and video editing.
I am a visual storyteller that thinks like an engineer.
I love helping others above all else. After graduating, I traveled to a school in Mitrovicë, Kosovo, to teach their students design, and serve as a judge in Kosovo’s first ever STEM fair. This helped me understand the role of design for different cultures, and adapt the basic principles to different age levels. I have years of experience in customer service roles that required a lot of teamwork and clear communication, as well as leadership roles during my time in school.
With hard work, determination, and leading with kindness, there isn’t much that we can’t figure out together.
My goal this year is to join a team of like-minded creatives that want to leave our world a little better than we found it.
I'm excited to keep learning more about 3D modeling, prototyping, and working with fellow humans to make real things.
